The marketing or communications team for each institution determines branding guidelines including logo usage for Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ-affiliated websites and applications.
Resources for logo approval and branding guidance
Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logos are available for Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ faculty, staff and students to use on official Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ digital properties or on external websites with special permission. It is important that Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logos be used appropriately and appear consistently across all Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ websites, applications, social media and digital communications to properly promote the Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ brand and help users easily identify Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ institutions in the digital universe.
Branding and Logo Guidance
Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ website and application mastheads often include the institution’s logo and persistent site-wide navigation.  Mastheads should use an approved Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ institution logo in the upper left of a main navigation bar, and this logo should link to the institution’s home page. As a reminder, all web applications through an external vendor require a contract with ET&S Software Development or approval from a Dean.Â
Guidelines for all logos
- Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logos may only be created by an institution’s marketing or communications department and cannot be altered in any way.
- To request the creation of a Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logo configuration with your department or entity name, contact your institution’s marketing or communications department.
- Adhere to your institution's brand guidelines for logo requirements on sizing, clear space, placement and background
Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logos on external sites
You are strongly encouraged to use the tools Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ offers for building websites. However, if you are a member of the university community, you may choose to create an external site about your individual or club's approved university system activities. You may then request permission to use a Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logo and name on your site.
Using an institution's name and logo
To receive permission to use a university system logo and name on an external site, you must be either:
- A Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ faculty or staff member using the site ONLY to promote your individual approved Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ activities, such as Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ-affiliated research
- A Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ student using the site ONLY to promote the activity of a university-recognized student organization
It is not permissible to use the site for any commercial activity or display any ads. Any commercial or revenue-generating use of Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logos or names must be approved through your institution's marketing or communications department.

Responsibility for content
Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logos on Drupal Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ websites are maintained by ET&S. For non-Drupal Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ websites, proper usage of the logo is the responsibility of the site owner and must comply with all logo requirements. For external sites, site owners are responsible for getting permission in writing for using a Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logo.
External sites may use a Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ logo, but they are created by members of the university community acting as individuals rather than as official representatives of the Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ. As such, external sites may not be used as the official website for any Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ college, school, institute, department, or administrative or service unit. Site owners are solely responsible for the site and its contents.
Violations
ET&S Software Development reserves the right to remove at any time any content that it considers in violation of this standard or any other Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ policies.
If inappropriate or inaccurate content is discovered, ET&S will contact the site owner to discuss the issue. If the site or content owner cannot be contacted or is no longer at Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ, that content will be administered by ET&S and can be removed if deemed inaccurate or inappropriate. When content is obviously unacceptable, ET&S will immediately remove the content prior to contacting the site owner. Unacceptable entries also may cause site access to be suspended.
Reports regarding inappropriate content may be sent to .
